There are some which are good to know:
a) frisch = fresh (e.g. fresh fruit = frisches Obst)
b) ein frisch verheiratetes Paar = a couple newly married
c) ein frisch verliebtes Paar = a couple newly in love
d) sich frisch machen = (to) freshen up
e) jmd. auf frischer Tat ertappen = (to) catch so. red-handed

How to say that so. drinks alcohol in German
There are many colloquial ways to say that you’re drinking alcohol. The usual way would be “Alkohol trinken” of course. But I guess it’s good to know some of the following expressions (incl. literal translations) - not necessarily to use them, but to at least be able to understand them ;)
1. einen heben = (to) life one
2. sich einen genehmigen = (to) allow oneself one
3. einen bechern = (to) “mug” one
4. saufen = (to) booze
5. sich volllaufen lassen = (to) fill oneself up
And here are some ways to say that someone is drunk - once it’s too late ;)

“Gesundheit!”
The German word “Gesundheit” (article: die) means “health”. So after so. sneezes, it’s very polite to wish him health.
I’ve heard the same expression in the United States before, which always makes me smile. Apparently early immigrants from Germany introduced it.
