First of all… I think that people who do this to their pet should be ashamed of themselves :-/
Der Pudel (poodle) is another dog breed which has originated in Germany. They vary in size and have lots of (natural ;)) different fur colors. Poodles are very playful and creative but can also be pretty stubborn. Unfortunately, many owners seem to (ab)use them for beauty competitions and style them like Barbie dolls. But the natural poodle is quite adorable and cute.

The Doberman(n) is another popular dog breed that is originally from Germany. The medium sized dog is very athletic and fast and was bred to be the perfect guard dog. It’s considered to be one of the most trainable dogs and it’s extremely loyal. Unfortunately, there have been some incidents were the Dobermann was involved in human attacks. That’s why the Dobermann’s reputation of being a very aggressive and dangerous dog has spread. However, studies have already proven that this breed’s aggression is average and cannot be compared to fighting dogs at all.
In fact, I knew a male Dobermann once, which was the cuddliest and most playful dog ever. ;)

Ok, those little guys look like a sausage and are perfect for a hot dog bun, right? I think they are adorable, although I normally prefer bigger dogs.
Der Dachshund or Dackel is a small, short-legged little hunter, that is very courageous and playful and wants to chase everything that moves. Which can be a pain in the neck of course ;) There are three main types - wire-hair, short-hair and long-hair (you can see all three in the picture)
Dachshund literally means “badger dog”, which makes sense, cause they were commonly used for hunting animals like e.g. badgers, rabbits or foxes.
Dackel have been traditionally viewed as a symbol of Germany. The mascot of the Summer Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 was one, too: Waldi :D

The Boxer, der (deutsche) Boxer, is a medium-sized, short-haired dog with very strong jaws and a short skull. Their personality is described to be very playful, friendly and active - which makes them a good family dog. But they are also solitary, which makes them suspicious of humans they don’t know. Which is of course perfect if you need a liable guard for your home. ;)
