The traditional German cake called “BIENENSTICH” (bee sting cake) is always good to serve with coffee. It’s topping is a mix of almonds, butter and honey. The cream filling has a vanilla taste to it and the dough is soft and yummy.
I’ve found a good recipe in English for it. Check it out on this blog!
Have you already had a chance to eat a piece of Bienenstich somewhere?

Quick and easy recipe for a juicy, German Marble Cake (= der Marmorkuchen)
You need:
3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
4 eggs
1 cup oil (e.g. sunflower oil)
1 cup sparkling water
about 4oz (100g) cocoa powder
1 pkg. of vanilla pudding powder
What you have to do:
Mix all the ingredients exept for the cocoa powder. Then divide dough into two parts and pour one into a buttered loaf pan / cake tin. Add the cocoa powder to the second part and then pour it on top of the first part. To mix the dark and the bright dough you can pull a fork through them a couple of times.
Bake for about 40mins at ca. 380°F (ca. 200°C).

Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte - or Black Forest Cake - is probably one of the most famous German cakes. The cake combines cherries, a chocolate dough and lots of whipped cream. Cherry schnaps, the so-called “Kirschwasser” (lit.: cherry water), is also usually added.
Recipes can be found all over the internet. However, I’ve never baked it before, so I cannot recommend any recipe to you. If you know or find a good one - please share with us in the comment section!
die Kirsche (-n) = cherry (-ies)
die Torte (-n) = (fancy) cake (-s)
