raelee asked: Related to the question about your name, can you share some common German names? And/or names that you've only really heard used in Germany?
Thanks for all the hard work you do with GermanHeit!
Hey :)
Hmmm… of course the popularity of names always change. But here are some names that you hear often in Germany:
Girls: Stefanie, Nicole, Christina, Lena, Laura, Andrea, Julia, Yvonne, Susanne, Tanja, Nadine, Corinna, Kerstin, Katja, Daniela, Simone…
Boys: Alexander, Stefan, Markus, Thomas, Florian, Frank, Christian, Sven, Thorsten, Tobias, Maximilian, Paul, Felix…
Names that are only heard in Germany?.. Puuuh… tricky question ;) I can only think about old-fashioned names and I’m not even sure about those…
For boys I’d say names like Karl-Heinz, Dieter, Gottfried, Otto, Horst, Werner, Rudolf etc.
For girls: Annelise, Berta, Walburga, Kunigunde, Gerda, Gertrud, Ilse, Ute etc.
I’m sure some of them sound funny to you ;)
