scarletnwit asked: Hi! First of all, I love your blog; I'm fascinated by Germany and it's always fun and informative to see your posts. Secondly, I don't know if you've ever heard the Bright Eyes song "Easy/Lucky/Free" but it's wonderful...so wonderful in fact I'd like to get a tattoo of the title, but I'd like to mix it up and get it in German since I am a German minor at Western Kentucky University. I know that "frei" is "free" but I'm having trouble finding the right words for "easy" and "lucky".
Thanks for your time!
Hey there! Wow - a tattoo, how cool!
easy = einfach but I guess in this context it’s better to translate it to “locker” or “lässig” (either one is fine), cause it describes someone’s attitude/character, right?
lucky = glücklich. Usually glücklich = happy. If someone says “I’m lucky guy” it translates to something like “Ich habe Glück” or “Ich bin ein Glückspilz”.
free = frei, that’s correct :)
I hope we’ll see a pic of your tattoo at some point ;)
