Anonymous asked: Tag! What do you call these in German (Abitur sheets?!)

I'm a German teacher in Australia and think it would be really cool to introduce this kind of a tradition for our German students!

Vielen Dank!

Belinda :)

Hey Belinda! I don’t think there’s a specific term for “Abitur” posters and banners like that. I’d call it “der Glückwunschbanner” or “das Glückwunschplakat” (der Banner = banner; das Plakat = poster) and would add a more detailed description e.g. “Das ist ein Glückwunschbanner zum Abitur” (this is a congratulation banner on the Abitur graduation).

Btw, “das Abitur” is very often shortened to just “das Abi” :) And you might wanna tell your students about the senior prank tradition (= der Abistreich / der Abischerz) CLICK
