dartharaiz asked: You said that Austrian German (AG) has differences in vocab when compared with the mainland German. And what about Swiss German? What's the difference when compared with those 2?

I heard that when a person wants to take Switzerland nationality, he or she had to learn Swiss German, even if he or she is a German native speaker already (Is it correct?).

Swiss German dialects  are very different from Standard German or Austria German. They’re difficult to understand if understandable at all e.g. I can barely understand this - click here to listen. Swiss High German is only used as a literary language and mustn’t be confused with the dialects.

In regards to your second question: you have to learn Swiss German if you want to live there, cause Standard German is hardly spoken. Even on TV and the radio the Swiss dialects are dominant.

(@ all: Any Swiss people here who would like to share their thoughts or help to answer the question in the comment section?)
