Berlin and Heidelberg as first choices? Good choices! ;) It depends on whether you’re more into big cities or also don’t mind living in a small/average-sized town. If it’s the big cities, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Munich are the ones to choose. Heidelberg, Würzburg, Erlangen are some nice possibilites if you don’t mind staying in a city with under 150.000 inhabitants. Btw - I think it’s awesome that you want to study abroad :)
