ichliebeichfliege-deactivated20 asked: I'm currently learning German in school, and I plan to learn it fluently, but there is a constant argument as to how to pronounce 'ich'. Do you pronounce it how it looks, or like 'ish'? Or does it vary in different regions all over Germany?
Danke (:
There are two different “ch” in German. The one that you’re talking about is the “ch” before “bright vowels”: [ç]
e.g. ich [ˈɪç]; möchte [ˈmœçtʰə]
Don’t pronounce it like your English “sh”! An example for an English word that uses the [ç] sound:
“huge” [çuːdʒ]
