Answers to yesterday’s exercise

posted 1 year ago

Guys, I’m proud! You translated yesterday’s sentences pretty well. There was one thing, that I’ve noticed though (it’s not a real mistake, I just wanted to let you know):

Some of you translated the 1st sentence “I’m looking forward to spring” to “Ich freue mich auf Frühling”, which is totally correct! :) However, it’s more common to add the definite article in German -> Ich freue mich auf DEN Frühling.

One of you guys said “Ich freue mich FÜR den Frühling”. But “sich freuen für” = (to) be happy for, so be careful not to mix up “für” and “auf”! :)

1. I’m looking forward to spring. -> Ich freue mich auf (den) Frühling.

2. I really need some sun. -> Ich brauche wirklich (etwas) Sonne.

3. The birds are chirping outside. -> Die Vögel zwitschern draußen. / Draußen zwitschern die Vögel.

4. I would like to go for a walk. -> Ich möchte spazieren gehen (or: einen Spaziergang machen). / Ich würde gern spazieren gehen (or: einen Spaziergang machen).

5. This spring is going to be great. -> Dieser Frühling wird toll (werden).
