As you’ve probably already heard, JD Salinger died at the age of 91 yesterday.
In 9th grade, I had to read “The Catcher in the Rye” (Der Fänger im Roggen) in German class. In school, I wasn’t really a big fan of reading books in class. But I remember that I really enjoyed the story of Holden Caulfield.
In the picture you can see the exact same book I read in school over 15 years ago. It’s still on my book shelf. :)
What’s your JD Salinger / Catcher in the Rye story?

I also read it in school. I remember people in my class hating it and I was like, “You just don’t GET it!” Ha. Still love it to this day.

I was 13 or so, a cynical, depressed kid. I found someone who thought just like me. Salinger became my best friend.

I was going through a period of deep depression. It was not the best story to read during the time but I understood the character completely

Last time I read Catcher in the Rye was when I lived in Berlin for some time. I loved it, both the book and living there.
