Great explanation! And a great sentence to use “Ich verstehe nur Bahnhof” ( -> It’s all Greek to me.)

Ich verstehe nur bahnhof

My favorite phrase in German, it literally translates to “I only understand train station” Colloquially this means “It makes no sense” or the old “It’s all Greek to me.” The idea of bahnhof/train station essentially = chaos. Personally, I like to read/think of the phrase as “I only understand chaos.”
