“Spiel, Spaß, Spannung und Schokolade.” (Play, fun, suspense and chocolate)
Every German kid wants it: das Überraschungsei or short “Ü-Ei” (surprise egg) / die Kinderüberraschung (Kinder surprise). The small chocolate egg contains a small toy, hidden in a yellow capsule. In every 7th egg you can find a small hand-painted figure, the characters depend on the current limited-edition set (e.g. Happy Hippos). Those figures are very popular among collectors!
So next time you see a crying kid in a German supermarket, you know what they want to have but won’t get. I speak from my own experience LOL.
