Ok, those little guys look like a sausage and are perfect for a hot dog bun, right? I think they are adorable, although I normally prefer bigger dogs.
Der Dachshund or Dackel is a small, short-legged little hunter, that is very courageous and playful and wants to chase everything that moves. Which can be a pain in the neck of course ;) There are three main types - wire-hair, short-hair and long-hair (you can see all three in the picture)
Dachshund literally means “badger dog”, which makes sense, cause they were commonly used for hunting animals like e.g. badgers, rabbits or foxes.
Dackel have been traditionally viewed as a symbol of Germany. The mascot of the Summer Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 was one, too: Waldi :D
