Der Hund ist der beste Freund des Menschen. Stimmt’s?
And because it’s so true and I love dogs, I wanna start a new tag called “dogs”. But the main reason is, that we Germans love our dogs, too and they are a very important part of our daily life. And that many popular dog breeds are actually German. So I’d like to introduce you to some of them.
Let’s start with the German Shepherd. Der Deutsche Schäferhund. Literally: The German Shepherd Dog.
Deutsche Schäferhunde are large sized dogs. They are strong, intelligent and very protective dogs and therefore very often “employed” by the police and military. And not only are they the most registered dogs, they were also used a lot in films e.g. I am Legend or the famous dog Rin Tin Tin. There’s even a TV show (from Austria) that centers around a German Shepherd called Rex. I’ve never watched it, but it’s pretty popular. ;)
