#German tag questions

posted 2 years ago

Tag questions are attached to the end of a sentence. In English the tag equivalent of the sentence depends on the subject of the sentence e.g. He’s handsome, isn’t he? We’re going out tonight, aren’t we? In German it’s more simple. “nicht wahr?” or “nicht?” are our tag questions. Both are independant of the subject of the sentence. You can use them for every subject. Example: Dein Vater arbeitet viel, nicht (wahr)? Your father works a lot, doesn’t he? Du gehst heute Abend ins Kino, nicht (wahr)? You’re going to the movies tonight, aren’t you?
