Did you know that “The Neverending Story” - Die Unendliche Geschichte - was written by a very popular German children’s book author called Michael Ende?

It was one of my favourite books when I was a kid. And I have wanted to read it again for a long time, because the story is so detailed, intense and beautiful. Much better than the movies or let’s say - the first movie from 1984 (which is the only one that at least tries to follow the original storyline)! So what is what in the original German book?

  1. Fantastica / Fantasia = Phantásien
  2. The Childlike Empress = die Kindliche Kaiserin
  3. Moonchild = Mondenkind
  4. Falkor = Fuchur
  5. luckdragon = der Glücksdrache
  6. Ivory Tower = der Elfenbeinturm
  7. Night Hob = der Nachtalb
  8. The Nothing = das Nichts
  9. Rockbiter = Felsenbeißer
  10. The Southern Oracle = Das Südliche Orakel

Here’s a scene from the movie in German.
