Yeah - endlich Spargelzeit! :) Finally asparagus season!
der Spargel = asparagus
Asparagus is a pretty popular vegetable, right? Do you like it? Well, I do! And so do many German people! About 80 % of the Spargel that is eaten in Germany is also grown in Germany, which is pretty cool and eco-friendly I think. One of the many growing areas ( = das Anbaugebiet) is actually right around the corner - das Knoblauchsland between Nürnberg and Erlangen. So during Spargelzeit, I can always get fresh asparagus of a very good quality.
There are sooo many good asparagus recipes that I couldn’t really decide which one to post. On this website (in German) you can find a couple of really good and interesting asparagus recipes. Maybe it’ll give you some ideas :) One of the classic ways, which I really like a lot, is having it with potatoes, ham and sauce hollandaise (see picture). Yummy! Lecker!
