Die Deutsche Bahn - or simply “DB” - is a good way to travel inside of Germany. All the big cities and most of the towns and villages have their own little train station. There are different types of trains that you can travel with. Prices and travel times vary depending on the train you buy a ticket for.
RB / RE = Regionalbahn, Regionalexpress -> cheapest but slowest train (stops everywhere)
IR = Interregio (a bit more expensive than RB/RE, also a bit faster and doesn’t stop everywhere)
IC = Intercity ( ” )
ICE = Intercity Express -> most expensive but fastest train (only stops in bigger cities) - you can see it on the picture above
To check out timetables, the route network and information on special offers go to the DB homepage.
If you can’t or don’t want to buy your tickets online, you’ll have to get them at one of the many railway stations at ticket machines (payable cash or credit card). Or you go to a  “Reisezentrum” which is an information center. Booking tickets, making reservations or just informing yourself is possible there.
